Control box/board monitors and controls all functions of the refrigerator, compressor, and ancillary components such as fans.  It receives and monitors temperature sensor inputs, starts/stops and runs the compressor cycles, controls the function and speed of the fans, and more.  It is both the heart and the brain of the refrigerator, and is necessary for the unit to function.
